‘Puniyameen’ Sets new record - By N.M.Ameen

Kalabhushana P.M. ‘Puniyameen’ a native of udathalawinna in the district of Kandy has created a new record by writing 7,500 articles to an electronic media within one year. This record was made in the Tamil Wikipedia from 14 November 2010 to 13 November 2011.

A final year student at the Sabaragamuwa University M.I.F. Nafeela in a research report published in the ‘Tamil Journalist’ website states that the articles written by Puniyameen appear in 183 websites the world over. She has also quoted the addresses of all 183 websites.

From the latter part of last year Puniyameen had a close connection with wikipedia which is published in 282 languages, and has the first highest access/readership in the world. He joined Tamil wikipedia on 14 November 2010 and introduced the writers, journalists, historians and artists. He had also registered the books writted by various authors pertaining to politics, economics, history and arts. Now he has commenced writing about world cricketers, in addition to writing about Tamil – Muslim writers in India, Malaysia, Singapore and Myanmar and the magazines published by them.

‘Puniyameen’ who commenced his literary work in 1970 has authored and published 179 books i.e. Novel – 01, Short Stories – 07, Poetry – 03, Political Science – 14, Political Review – 07, Literary Review – 21, General knowledge – 10, History – 08, Various Fields – 07 and fifth standard scholarship books. He has also co-authored 101 books with his wife Maseeda Puniyameen.
In addition he has written 166 Short Storiers and over 15,000 articles on arts, literature, politics, sports and society.

During the past he has written various Tamil magazines and news papers in SriLanka and India. Now he has commenced writing in the electronic media.
